I have a new motorcycle. Do I need to take it to a dealership for maintenance in order to keep my warranty valid?
No! Forget all about that old myth. As long as you follow the specifications given by the manufacturer (which can be found in your handy owner’s manual), your warranty is valid. At Rocky Shop Racing, we always follow the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule. We’ll make sure your warranty remains valid and your motorcycle remains happy – for many miles to come!
Why do I have to make an appointment to get my bike serviced?
In order to maximize efficiency for the customer and the mechanics it is important that you make an appointment prior to showing up. By making an appointment you ensure that you will receive your motorcycle the same day you enter it into service (for routine repairs, service intervals, etc). Additionally we don’t have storage space for overnight drop offs.
How long does a service take?
If you bring your motorcycle in the morning when we open (9 am to 5 pm), we can return it to you on the same day. Remember if your motorcycle has a major repair or unexpected complications arise, it may be necessary to keep the motorcycle overnight.
Can you patch a motorcycle tire?
We cannot patch tires because a puncture weakens the overall integrity of the tire. Due to this fact and safety factors to the rider we strongly recommend the purchase of a new tire.
How long do brakes last?
There are several factors that contribute to brake wear. Some of those factors include, but are not limited to, average load, road conditions, and braking habits. Brake pads have wear grooves that are visible from the front of the front brake caliper as well as visible from the rear of the rear brake caliper. Consult your owner’s manual for more details on checking your brakes. Additionally feel free to come in any time and have one of our service managers show you what to look for.
How does the quality of aftermarket parts compare with original equipment parts?
Some are manufactured by the same supplier and may even be warrantied longer than original equipment parts. Aftermarket parts supplied by us meet or exceed manufacturers’ specifications.
How long should a clutch last?
Clutches are designed to last thousands of miles. However your driving habits, road conditions, etc, will all contribute to different rates of clutch wear. Unfortunately it is not an exact science. Call our service department if you have any additional questions about clutch wear.
How much for a tune up on my bike?
We will need to know the mileage on your bike and check the factory’s service schedule to see what work is due. It is helpful if you have past service records handy so we know what has been done.
A mechanic told me what is wrong with my bike, I purchased the parts and want you to install them?
Since we guarantee our work, we wouldn’t risk relying on other people’s diagnosis. We will need to diagnose the problem ourselves and recommend a solution.
